The season is upon us…….

During the last two weeks:

Natwest Cricket Force Day - A small, but hard working group attended the cricket force day to help get the club ready for the season. This included some new players and colts, who undertook some of the less glamorous tasks like hoovering, moving benches, setting up cupboards, building the patio furniture, leveling dips in the field caused by last years hot weather and many more. Thanks to all those attended and Val, Roy and Sarah for keeping us refreshed from the tuck shop hatch.

Indoor success – the Indoor 1st Team completed the league and cup double by beating Coastal Cobras in both games. Please see the separate article for full details here: http://www.swindoncricketclub.co.uk/news/indoor-1st-team-complete-leaguecup-double-2414919.html

Youth cricket – we held our ‘Friday Night is Youth Cricket Night’ launch which was exceptionally well attended by parents and children alike. The children enjoyed some games organised by Head Coach Wayne on the outfield and the parents were welcomed to the club by Daniel (Vice-Chair), Kirsty (Child Welfare Officer) and Wayne (Head Coach). Don’t forget the moving forward ‘Friday Night is Cricket Night’ will continue to provide junior training for all age’s groups (except AllStars) and the tuck shop and BBQ will be open/fired up for refreshments. These are volunteer run, so if you can lend a hand please make yourself known! Thanks to those who have already committed their time.

Community engagement – we hosted the flag bearers, FA, Swindon Town Community Foundation and a drone as part of the recent Lionesses game at SCC. Separate article to follow – hopefully with a link to some col drone footage of the County Cricket Ground.

The pre-season mini tour to Cornwall and Devon fell victim to the weather, but we try again today with the 1st XI at home to Cirencester and the 2s/3s at Swindon United Churches CC.

Memberships - If there are any outstanding memberships, please speak to your age group coach or Daniel Harris to arrange payment or a payment plan asap. Those who have paid will be prioritised for selection over those that haven’t moving forward. Details here: http://www.swindoncricketclub.co.uk/news/2019-membership-reminder-faqs-2401090.html

Ground works – while the team (including volunteers from the 1st XI) have been hard at work, you will also see that the new picket fence and flag poles are being installed. This has been thanks to a donation from club legend Kevin Thompson – we can’t wait until it is finished as it will complete the patio renovations and make it the place to be on a warm summer’s day.

Our 175th anniversary celebration weekend events were launched. Please support your club and join us to celebrate. There is an event for everyone. All details here: http://www.swindoncricketclub.co.uk/calendar/event/swindon-cc-175th-year-celebration-weekend-424468
