Swindon Wallop x11 got their Wiltshire Wallop campaign off to a convincing start against Goatacre Wallop, securing an 87 run victory down at a sunny HQ.

On a lovely evening for T20 cricket Swindon made a blistering start, thanks to Marc Williamson hitting four boundaries and four sixes, to take the home side to 61-0 off the opening six overs.

Unfortunately for Marc, he was dismissed just short of a deserved half-century playing one shot too many to be bowled on 49 off 19 deliveries. But the momentum didn't stop with Jon Sore getting in on the act.

Despite losing another partner, he marshaled the score to 107-2 at the halfway point. But some good tight bowling from Goatacre and the pink ball starting to get soft, scoring became more challenging, and wickets began to fall.

Jon fell for 46 off 38, and the new batsmen found it hard to get their timing, and as a result, Swindon found themselves 152-8 after 18 overs. A couple of boundaries in the last couple overs from Dean Williamson and Tom Codling saw the hosts reach a challenging 173-8.

In the reply, the Goatacre innings never really got going. Chris Aubrey and Connor Taylor bowled tightly at the start restricting the visitors to 30/1 off their opening six.

Despite a bit of a cameo from Peter Turner, their number three, scoring 21 off 11 balls, wickets kept tumbling. The spin duo of Sam Giddings and Adam Tucker doing the damage, the latter taking figures of 4-13 off his four overs, one being a smart caught and bowled.

The misery for the visitors finally ended in the 18th over when Dean Williamson, just like the batting innings, finished off in style, bowling the Keron Bennett-Thomas to leave the visitors 86 all out after 17.4 overs.

Swindon are next in T20 action at Potterne on Sunday with a 10:30am start.
