Under 13's A continue impressive league form

After a three week break due to other sides pulling out from the league our 13's A travelled to Trowbridge for their latest fixture in WYCL Division 1 and maintained their winning streak with a comprehensive 120 run victory.
Batting first on a pitch which had some damp areas due to overnight rain, we were soon in trouble when Trowbridge's left arm paceman was too just too quick for Ollie Gabb who was late on a straight one and bowled all ends up. Skipper Sam Giddings stood firm and was joined at the crease by young Sam Wiles who initially looked apprehensive against the pace of the Trowbridge opener. However, both Sam's were superb in dealing with the quick deliveries and saw off the opening spell with no further alarms. Sam G started punishing any loose deliveries and was supported superbly by Sam W who nudged and nurdled his way to a well played 47 before being caught in the last over going for his 50 .Sam G's innings of 173 not out was a joy to watch ( even though he was dropped on 26) and their cannot have been many better in the history of the WYCL and it is definitely a record for us at that level, well played both Sam's and we ended our 35 overs on 253-2.
Our bowlers set about the Trowbridge batting with good consistency and the openers were soon back in the pavilion thanks to two well pitched up deliveries from opener Ethan Teale, 2 wickets apiece for Amanveer Singh Jagdey , Charlie Robins and Nick Viljoen plus 1 from Bruno Tweedale ensured that Trowbridge could only get to 133 all out in reply. Special mention to Charlie Robins who took a fantastic diving catch to dismiss Trowbridge's No4 just inside the boundary, a champagne moment to round of another great all round team performance.
No league match now until July 9th but the team are in T20 action this coming Friday, June 16th away at Purton.
