Friday saw the annual youth presentations take place at the County Ground. It has been a fantastic year for our junior section, with league and cup wins through the age groups (read all about them HERE) as well as numerous players representing the District and County sides.

Friday was an opportunity for the clubs junior players and parents to come together and celebrate both team and individual performances across the age groups. Unfortunately, club Chairman Tom couldn’t make the evening, but he did send through his thanks to players, parents, coaches and all those pitching in that drive the success Swindon CC has seen in the last few years. The club are extremely thankful to all the volunteers who help us run such a vibrant youth setup – coaches, officials, administrators, welfare officers, tea helpers, lift givers, supporters – the list goes on. THANK YOU!

Two people in particular were singled out for their efforts, Kevin Thompson and Wayne Pascall, who continue to be instrumental in everything to do with youth cricket at SCC. Kevin is the reason we have a youth section that is now the envy of the county but has been built over 30+ years of considerable effort. Wayne's expert coaching and player centered focus is pushing the clubs youth further forwards at great pace and the club and committee get regular feedback from parents at Swindon and beyond about how lucky we are to have Wayne on board.

The awards on the night were handed out by club captain Marc Williamson, with congratulations going to the following players:

Looking forward, Tom wished to encourage our amazing juniors to keep doing what they are doing and have fun. The youth section is the present and future heart of the cricket club. On the volunteer side, Tom encouraged anyone who can lend a hand in the future, no matter how big or small, to please get in touch for a chat.

We wish all our players an enjoyable winter, whether that be resting or within the County setups, as many of our players are. Please keep an eye on the clubs website and social media for news of 2020 pre-season (indoors from early new year).
