In 2020, Swindon Cricket Club launched the 'Thompson Scholarship' - allowing one special individual within our youth section to work with head coach Wayne Pascall of Big Dawg Cricket on a 1:1 basis.

In 2026 we are delighted to announce that the scholar is Rahmatullah Amani, who Wayne and Kevin Thompson selected as this years lucky candidate based on his assessment of potential, attitude, application and circumstances. Rahmatullah has already been working 1:1 with Wayne and will attend a summer camp at the club - something he is excited about.

Rahmatullah is new to the club and currently plays for the under 13s, where he has shown his sills as a promising seam bowler.....who is also handy with the keeping gloves on! He loves his cricket and can’t seem to get enough of it and has already helped at a number of club events and seems to be at the club every day!

A key pillar within our club strategy is to invest in our wonderfully diverse and talented youth section. The club is proud of its investment in the youth section, which in turn is allowing the club to grow, fielding more youth sides this year from under 9 upwards, following our most attended youth winter programme in recent memory. We also continue to see youth players break into and progress through our senior sides – the future of the club looks strong.
