Following nominations and shortlisting, last night Chairman Tom Foreman and Head Coach Wayne Pascall both scooped awards at the Wiltshire Grassroot Cricket Awards. The Grassroots Cricket Awards provide reward and recognition for outstanding volunteers across Wiltshire. Cricket is reliant on its volunteers, and it was inspiring to be in a room full of some of the best and most committed in the County.

Early in the evening Head Coach Wayne picked up the award in the ‘Inspired to Play’ category, in recognition of the amazing coaching work he does at the club as well as with Wiltshire Cricket. His nomination and award particularly recognised his efforts to diversify young players training and his involvement and commitment to the clubs Thompson Scholarship which provides free one-to-one coaching for a deserving individual.

Later in the evening Chairman Tom Foreman triumphed in the hotly contested ‘Unsung Hero’ category, which had the highest number of entrants of any award. Toms award recognised his phenomenal efforts over the past seven years as Chairman, particularly noting; his work in engaging the local community, his faultless leadership through Covid, his drive and ambition, the forming of the 5th XI, untold hours of administration and his captaincy and wider volunteer roles. Tom also picked up our 2022 Clubmark accreditation, which helps us demonstrate the safe and welcoming environment we provide at the club.

As a club we are very lucky to have two great people involved in delivery cricket. Next time you see them, be sure to congratulate them on their award and thank them for their efforts.

Across the night there were also awards handed out in categories including ‘Connecting Communities’, ‘Rising Star’ and ‘Growing the Game’ with great stories shared throughout. Congratulations to all the award winners across the night and to those that were nominated. Truly inspiring.
