Last Friday it was fantastic to see the clubhouse packed out as we celebrated the 2025 season across all age groups. With representation from Under 9s through to the 1st Team, the evening showed the depth and volume of cricket being played at the club. For pictures of the evening, please click HERE.
Following an initial welcome, the Daniel thanked the wide range of people that make cricket happen at Swindon CC. The committee, Kev, Wayne, the coaches, grounds team, our bar and events crew, officials, those that make teas, STFC match day volunteers, parents and players themselves – thanks all for being part of Swindon CC and providing cricketing opportunities for our community. In addition, all of our sponsors were highlighted and thanked for their support, particularly long term sponsor Coe Capital Wealth Management and new sponsor Ridgeway Hospital, who’s input this year enabled us to kit out every player in a new SCC match shirt.
This years revised format then included an overview of the junior and senior sections of the club, given by Director of Cricket Wayne Pascall and Club Captain Tom Codling. This also included presentation of the Under 19s Cup, which had been won only a few days before. This led onto applause for this years players who will be added to our honours boards – 23 in total!
As we moved on to the presentation of the awards, we started with our ever expanding Under 9s setup, with each child given a medal. This led onto bowling awards, batting awards and coaches player awards – congratulations to all of the following:
BOWLING
Following these awards, to build the suspense to the three main awards, the club was proud to share its external success as part of the Wiltshire Grassroots Cricket Awards. It was shared that the club had won the connecting communities award, Sarah Aubrey the unsung hero award and Toby Blagg a young coach award.
We then moved on to award the players of the season. It was a pleasure to hand awards to Benny Hyde and Sam Wiles, who’s performances this year helped them stand out. This included Benny being the clubs leading run scorer and Sam’s match winning century at Potterne.
The last award of the night went to Kevin Thompson, who picked up the 2025 Chairman’s Award. Kevin is most of the well known figures across Wiltshire cricket and it was a pleasure to recognise the huge efforts he has put in (again) in 2025. His role on the ground falls alongside his coordination of youth cricket, his ever presence at the club and his continued promotion of our great sport and Swindon CC.
Well done to all of the award winners and many thanks to everyone that attended on the night. It was fantastic to see such a large turnout and we think the new format worked well – many juniors thought so, as they were still on the outfield playing by floodlight at 21:30!
See you all in the new year when we kick the 2026 season off.
