BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!

The last two weeks have probably been the busiest two weeks of the year at Swindon CC. We have had a bit of everything happening at the club through all the age groups, including our grand 175th anniversary celebration weekend. So that you don’t all get bored with an essay as long as War and Peace, please see below a roundup of just some of the goings on at HQ.

175 celebration weekend
WOW! What a great weekend to celebrate the anniversary. A full write up of all the events is here: https://www.swindoncricketclub.co.uk/news/scc-celebrates-175th-anniversary-in-style-2442150.html with a report of the anniversary match here: https://www.swindoncricketclub.co.uk/news/175th-anniversary-memorial-match-report-2443659.html

A 175 anniversary book is being compiled by local historian Dick Mattick. £20 secures one of these books and if purchased in advance the book will include your name. Please speak to club President Randy Roze about this or make contact through our social media.

Private hire of the club
It has been great to have large local employer, Nationwide Building Society, using the clubs grounds and facilities over the last couple of weeks. They used the grounds as part of the Member Contact Strategy when some of the marketing team took to the outfield for team building games and shenanigans. In addition, the pavilion has hosted training and presentation sessions. We will now be looking to upgrade our portable projector screen to help host more of these events.

Please get in touch for any private hire enquiries – this could be for business events, birthday parties, weddings, meals, christenings etc etc etc. We have a great space, fully licenced bar and affordable hire rates.

All Stars
Our All Stars sessions came to a conclusion for 2019 with a visit from the mascot, Twinkle. We hope we have inspored lots of 5-8 year olds to play the great sport and maybe they will be the next Jason Roy or Heather Knight. Cricket
It is great to report that across the board the club continues to do well. The 2nd XI are having a tough transition year, but with the league very tight they are all working hard on pulling clear of the bottom of the WCCL Div 1 table.

Cricket Kit
ACTION REQUIRED! Note for all players and parents. At the outset of the year the committee took the decision to provide each fully paid up playing member with £20 back from their membership towards the new playing shirt, which shows the logo of our biggest supporter - Coe Capital Wealth Management. We know that a number of people are yet to redeem these vouchers and are playing in old shirts. Could we please ask that everyone gets there order in by the END OF THE MONTH otherwise the voucher will be cancelled, and your £20 discount lost. This will also allow us to finalise the clubs payment to the supplier. If you cannot find your voucher code please check your spam folder or drop Daniel Harris or Alex Kill a message. Thanks for your support.

Upcoming events:

Sunday 21st July – We are hosting an exhibition match between a West of England Premier League XI and a Cric X Agency XI. This will be a great opportunity to see some of the best league players in the south of England play on your doorstep. More details will be released by WEPL soon.

Saturday 24th August – our inaugural ‘PINK DAY’ when we will be raising money for cancer related charities. The day is held alongside the league game. Karen Millar is helping to organise this. Karen’s sister passed away recently and she is raising funds for Prospect by undertaking the Starlight Walk. Details of how you can support Karen and the Pink Day are here: http://www.swindoncricketclub.co.uk/news/can-you-support-karen-millar-pink-day-set-for-sat--2435365.html

FIREWORKS – Our annual family fireworks event will be returning bigger and better in 2019 – look out for details of the date and ticket sales soon. Get them quick when they are released as we have sold out the last two years weeks in advance of the event.
